Explanatory model of the different phases of transformation of the convent of Sant Miquel de Fluvià for the traveling exhibition Les pedres que parlen by the Girona Provincial Council.

Construction of a volumetric model at a scale of 1:100 for the travelling exhibition of the Girona Provincial Council entitled Les pedres que parlen, with the purpose of explaining in an attractive and easily understandable way how the convent was transformed to be fortified, and what was the situation of the cloister, which has now disappeared.

In order to clearly differentiate the defensive additions and understand what the project was like before these interventions, it was chosen to combine opaque white wood to represent the original building, and use translucent methacrylate to show the definitive configuration of the convent.

Thus, the perimeter defensive moat and the walls with battlements on the roofs of the enclosure differ from the purely religious construction, but form a set that allows us to visualize the result that we can currently visit in Sant Miquel de Fluvià.

The original cloister, of which there are references to its existence and its layout, was chosen to represent it, reproducing its volume, using transparent methacrylate, which in this way gives the visitor an idea of its location and at the same time shows how it was affected by the layout of the defensive moat.

In this project we worked closely with the client in all production phases: in the design phase of the aesthetics and explanatory discourse of the model, during the generation of the plans of the convent (based on the plans used for the phases of restoration of the convent, recreations of the complex and current photographs), in the coordination with the exhibition designers, and in the preparation of the custom-made transport box.

The result of our commitment to quality, technical precision and functionality ensures that this model fulfills its dual function as an explanatory tool and as an element of promotion of the cultural heritage of the lands of Girona.
